Other than a conscious consipiracy to bring black chicks back in style, Leather gives me and opportunity to be a part of the solution instead of the problem. For a long time I would look at most media outlets and feel as if I was in a crowded room, and no one was talking to me. The women who were chosen to represent me didn’t look like me, didn’t dress like me, and sure as hell didn’t act like me. With the exception a few publications, I began to feel, as a black woman, that my womanhood was a derivative of my blackness and that the two couldn’t exist as separate entities. This frustration is what birthed Leather.

Why Leather? Well my chickadees, Leather is kinky, yet classy. It comes in various shapes, styles, sizes, colors and textures. Its often imitated and badly duplicated. Leather is durable and can take mistreatment without showing it. Leather is regal. It’s classic. Leather can’t get wet. Leather is always in style and the older it gets, the better it looks. So why be cotton, when you can be Leather?

This site is designed to cater to the spectrum of black women from the vixen to the executive. Our goal is to break the glass ceiling of race and glass walls of gender and allow us to be what we are naturally without any assumuptions; to find out that there are others out there just like us with similar thought processes. Most importantly, our goal is to have a good time. Myself along with other Leather ladies will be posting our musings, fashion/beauty tips, advice, entertainment news/recommendations, interviews, and any other randomness we can get our hands on. I look forward to hearing the black female voice amplified on the internet and I hope that you will tell your friends about this site.
